Back to School

Now that it has been a year since my last post... It is probably time for a little catch up on the Johnson family!

A little bit has changed in the past year.  Really lots of things have changed :) First of all, I went back to school at Utah State!  It was big decision and one that was not easy to make. Mostly because of my lack of love for school.  But I am really glad that I chose to go back and so far classes have been going well!

Christian and I got to enjoy our last year in Logan together.   We went to as many Aggie sporting events that our schedules would allow.  We always love cheering on Utah State!

2 Year Anniversary Festivities

For our anniversary we went on a beautfiul hike up Logan canyon.  I hated the first 30 minutes.  I loved the middle hour and a half. And I hated the last 30 minutes.  But, overall it was really fun! We went on the Crimson trail.  The middle half of the hike you walk along a cliff overlooking the canyon.  It is BEAUTIFUL!

For part two we went out to dinner to Texas Roadhouse and then went and saw Monsters University.  It was perfect :) I love dates with my hubby!

Happy 2 Years!

Happy 2 Year Anniversary to my best friend and love of my life!  The past 2 years have been better then I could have ever imagined.  I love being your wife.  We have the most fun when we are together. I know our lives are just starting together and I can't wait to see what the next million years have in store for us.  I love love love love you!!!!

Mothers Day and Fathers Day

I am so thankful for all the wonderful mothers in our lives.  My mom is the best example to me.  She is the person I look up to most and I will consider myself lucky if I grow up to be HALF the person she is.  I love you ma! I am also so thankful for my wonderful mother-in-law.  She too is an example to me and I am most thankful for the wonderful son that she raised. We are so glad that we live so close to her and get to see her as much as we do. Love you Robyn!

Both of our mothers were out of town for mothers day so we pretended I was a mom and Christian made me dinner! It was great!

For fathers day we spent the day at Christians's Grandma and Grandpa Roos's house. They have the perfect backyard for family gatherings.  We sat in the shade and ate dinner and hung out with our favorite dads!

We are also so thankful for the fathers in our lives.  Christian's dad is awesome and every time we spend time with them I know exactly where Christian got a lot of his personality from.  He is an awesome Dad and we are so thankful for all he does for us! As for my Dad, I could not have asked for a better father.  I respect him so much and he is just the best! He has so many of the attributes that I strive to have and I am just thankful for all that he as taught me and all that he does! We love you both!!!

First Annual Pickett Vacation: Vegas Style

This year we started a new vacation tradition with my family.  For our first vacation we went to Vegas! It was SO SO SO SO SO SO fun!

We started off the trip with a pit stop at Swigs on our way there.  Swigs is this little place in St. George that has yummy flavored soft drinks and DELICIOUS baked goods.  We have been talking Swigs up so much that when we pulled up to the little shack Kevin and Christina were a tiny bit skeptical.  But as soon as we got our drinks and cookies they too were hooked.

My parents rented a HUGE house for us to stay at in Vegas.  In the back yard there was a pool.  That is pretty much where we spent all of our time.  It was over a 100 degrees the whole time we were there so if we weren't in the pool it was pretty close to unbearable.  One of the days we had a tournament with the floaties.  You could say it was a little competitive.  For the first race you could only use your hands.  And the second race you had to connect yourself to your spouse and try and get there and back first.  Don't mind the flattering pictures....It was a blast!

We decided to venture to the strip one of the days we were there.  We started with lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.

Christian and I were sitting by our niece Sophie.  Every time the gorillas turned on she would get super scared.  This picture sums up her lunch. haha

After the Rainforest Cafe we made a quick stop at the M&M factory. And then back to the pool we went!

The boys went to the Hoover Dam one the days.

The rest of the trip was extremely relaxing.  We ate LOTS of good food! Played games, watched modern family, and just hung out.  It was perfection!

While we were there it was both of our parents birthdays.  For some reason I only have a picture of my mom blowing out a candle.... but happy birthday mom and dad! Thanks so much for such a wonderful trip! We can't wait till next year!!

Memorial Day Weekend

We kicked off the summer with a good old fashion Bear Lake trip! It is defiantly one of our favorite places to be.  On Sunday night we went and stayed with Kevin and Christina's grandparents.  We ate way too much food, played games, and went on a walk.

In the morning we woke up and went to our grandparents cabin and hung out with them and played on the beach!  It was perfect :) I was stubborn and decided not to wear any sunscreen............ mistake.  I had sunburned knives stuck into my shins.  I put myself on bed rest.  ;)

When we got home from the lake we met up with our neighbors for a bbq and kickball game.  It was way fun! We love our neighbors! It was a perfect weekend to kick off the summer!

Randoms

Christian and I have been oh so busy lately.  I feel like we have seen each other 30 minutes a day for the past couple of weeks.  But even with our crazy schedules we have managed to fit in lots of fun!

We knew we were both going to have to work for Valentines day so we celebrated a couple of weeks early and went up to Salt Lake for a weekend getaway.  We ate SOOOOOO much good food and did lots of shopping! On Friday we started the day at Ikea.  It was Christians first time and it totally blew his mind.  I forgot how much of a maze you have to go through just to get to the exit!! But... It was really fun! We took our time looking at all the cute little displays and it was fun to imagine what our future million dollar home is going to look like ;) Just kidding. We ate at yummy PF Changs on Friday night.  So delicious.  I am still dreaming about it.  We ended up staying at the Little America and had their weekend breakfast buffet the next morning.  It was crazy good! I totally recommend it it for anyone who is looking for some good breakfast! On Saturday we went to City Creek and did some shopping! I bought a couple of new shirts and Christian bought 2 new pairs of shoes.  It was a successful shopping trip.  Of course on the way home we stopped at our favorite place (okay... my favorite place) Target! It was great.  We got a kick out of all the Valentines presents that they had to buy.  This was our favorite!

I love getting to get away for little weekends with Christian.  We both have to work a lot of weekends so it is fun to get a break every once in awhile and just spend time together.

On that Sunday we went over to Shera and Brad's new house for a Superbowl party!  I decided to make jalapeno crescent rolls at the last minute so I had to make my own dough. It was my first try and any type of homemade bread and it went great! I was proud!

The superbowl party was fun too! I didn't watch much except for when Destiny's Child made their come back... and that was great! We had a lot of yummy treats! Katie made artichoke bread and caramel popcorn.  Shera made chicken sliders and chocolate chip cookies, Christina made Better than sex cake and homemade pizza pockets, and I made the crecent rolls and banana cake.  It was great!

I decided to try and make my own curtains because I couldn't find any I liked that fit my budget.  So I found a pinterest tutorial and decided I would paint big brown stripes.  They looked great... minus a few paint mishaps! I was pretty excited for them and made one and let it dry over night.  When I went to hang it in the morning you could see all the imperfections in the paint job because the light was shining through.  I was so mad I cried a little and then decided I probably just needed a second paint job.  But that means retaping the lines and that took forever... so right now the curtains are sitting in a box and I am trying to convince myself to try again.  Christina kept me company while I painted the curtain! She made a way cute wreath out of yarn!

For Valentines day we spent our day a the good ol' Mill.  Every year they do a huge valentines buffet and it is a lot of work! We decided to hang my love letters as the centerpiece of the buffet! It turned out way cute! We had to add fabric to the back so they wouldn't have cardboard... but it looked great!

The night before valentines Christian gave me all of my favorite things.  Flowers, Reeses, strawberry sour straws, a rice krispy treat, "diet love potion" (diet coke), and gum.  He also wrote me a very creative letter. That was my favorite part!

My parents sent us a cute package in the mail with a picture decoration with all of the holidays in it.  It s really cute! I can't wait to put it up for St. Pattys day! Christians mom came and dropped us off some yummy treats for the Rocky Mountain Chocolate  factory for us.  They were quite good! I am so thankful for all the love that we have in our life.  Both of our families are awesome and we are so lucky to have everyone in our life that we do.  And although I think Valentines Day is a little over rated.  I am grateful that I had the best Valentine out there.  I love Christian!

Anyways... that is what we have been up to as of late.
