Two days after we found out that Christian was accepted to Physical Therapy school at UNLV we literally found out the best news ever. We are expecting a baby in November!!
My last post I talked about waiting to get into PT school. But to say we waited for this baby was an understatement. We waited and waited for this little babe to come to our family. We waited for almost two years for our little miracle to come our way. It was defiantly one of the hardest trials that we have ever experienced. But, Heavenly Father knew what he was doing. I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity that we have been given to be parents. I feel so humbled to be trusted with one of Heavenly Father's precious spirits. I am so grateful and I can wait for November to get here. We already love our baby so much!!
How I found out: I had been feeling a little off for a couple of days so I decided to take a pregnancy test. I had taken a million and three before so I wasn't expecting this one to be any different. Well I took the test and there was the FAINTEST plus sign. Any normal human being would have thrown it in the trash and not thought twice about it. But, I having taken my million and three tests before stared at that sign and tried to make something of it. I even called Christian at work and told him. He basically told me to not get my hopes up and to just wait a few more days and take another one. But, I was too impatient. So I of course went right out and bought two more tests of a different brand. I took the test and those two little lines made my heart stop. It was real. I was pregnant. I sat there on my bathroom floor staring at the test and cried for a few minutes. I was so excited!
How he found out: Because of how long I waited to become pregnant I dreamed up little ways of how I could announce that we were having a baby to Christian. So after I put myself back together I headed to the store. Because Christian had just been accepted to PT school a couple days before I had made him a little basket with goodies and things that he could use for school. Each had a little note attached saying what it was used for. At the bottom of the bag I hid a little bear with a pacifier. Attached to it, was a note saying "You'll need this for when your a Dad this November!". He took out the bear and stared at it a little confused and then once he finally figured it out he got so excited! That week was so awesome for us. Everything we had been waiting for, for so long all happened at once. We loved it!
How the Pickett family found out: Excessive hashtags are kind of a inside joke to my immediate family. You can find us talking out loud in hashtags to each other every once in awhile just because we find it a little ridiculous. We were planning on hanging out with my siblings two days after we found out. So we made shirts for us to wear. Mine said "HashtagImPrego" and Christian's said "#DaddyJ". We walked into my sisters house with jackets covering our shirts as calmly as possible. We hadn't seen them since Christian was accepted to PT school so they started congratulating him and asking him about that. I slowly unzipped my jacket and just kept talking to my sisters. My sister Shera started trying to read my shirt and once she got it she screamed. Then Katie Screamed. And Christina added in on the fun. We all hugged and it was so fun to share the news with them. My parents live in Washington so they weren't there when we shared the news with our siblings but we were going to visit them in the next couple of weeks. So when we arrived at their house we were wearing our shirts. My mom and dad read our shirts and gave us hugs. They were very excited! I swear my Mom already knew. It was fun to share our exciting news!
How the Johnson family found out: Christian is Robyn and Tim's oldest so this grand baby will be the first for their side of the family. To tell them we bought a sign that said "Grandkids welcome, Parents by appointment". We went over for Sunday dinner and we waited through the entire meal to be able to share the news. It was so hard to stay calm because we wanted to tell them so badly. After desert Christian went out the car to get the sign. He brought it in the house and handed it to his mom. She read the sign and I don't think she understood why were giving it to her. After a minute she finally put the pieces together and she looked at me, at the sign, back at me, and then she started crying. She showed the sign to the rest of the family and everyone else was just as excited! It was a perfect way to share the news.
We can't wait for baby Johnson to arrive. It is already so loved by so many and I just keep wishing that November would come a little sooner :)
